The story behind Patu
Patu is named after a family joke. As a kid, every time the founder got new shoes he would race to show them to his great-grandmother, clutching them tight in both hands and shouting "Patu!" while trying to say "Sapatu", the Papiamentu word for shoe. "Patu" actually means duck. The mix-up stuck, and so did the joke.
The collection turns that small, warm memory into a streetwear graphic series. Each Patu piece is built around the same family in-joke, a print you can wear loud or quiet, that reads as confident streetwear up close and as a personal story once you know where it's from.
What's in the Patu line
Patu started with hoodies and grew into a small but consistent family. The current line includes the heavyweight Patu IV and Patu V hoodies, a limited Patu V Red Edition for the louder rotation, and tee versions of Patu II, III, IV and V on midweight cotton for warmer days.
Designed in Groningen, made on demand
Every Patu piece is designed in Groningen and printed on demand by our European fulfilment partner. Nothing is made until it's ordered, which means no overstock, no warehouses full of unsold cotton, and a much smaller footprint per garment than traditional retail.
The trade-off is honest: orders ship a few days slower than mass-produced streetwear. We think it's worth it.
Materials, fit and care
Patu hoodies are built on heavyweight 100% cotton blanks (poly-blend on heather colourways) with a brushed inside fleece, a structured 3-panel hood, ribbed cuffs and an even hem. The cut is relaxed unisex, most people order their usual size, slightly oversized for the streetwear look.
Tees are midweight ring-spun cotton in the same relaxed cut. Wash inside-out at 30°C, hang dry, no tumble, the print stays sharp for years.

Frequently asked
What does Patu mean? In Papiamentu, the language of Curaçao, "patu" means duck. "Sapatu" means shoe. The collection name is the childhood mix-up between the two.
Where is Patu shipped from? Every order is printed on demand at our European partner and ships from within the EU. Free worldwide shipping over €100.
Does the print fade? No, when washed inside-out at 30°C. The DTG inks bond into the cotton fibres rather than sitting on top, so the print stays as soft as the rest of the garment.
